Seth Nelson: Advanced Styling Techniques

Seth Nelson is a bonsai professional currently residing in Alabama living in Japan for

5+years.

Seth completed a nearly six-year apprenticeship at Aichien Bonsai Nursery (愛 知 園), Japan,

under the guidance of Mr. Junichiro Tanaka. Before this, he was mentored by Jim Van

Landingham, a specialist in tropical species. He has served as the curator of the James

J. Smith collection at Heathcote Gardens in Ft. Pierce, Florida, where he managed a

large collection of tropical bonsai trees.

Seth prioritizes the health and longevity of the tree. He focuses on balancing the

strength of the trunks flow with natural branch structures and utilizes minimal wiring to

allow for organic growth and long-term health.
